This season will be unlike any other in the 25 year history of the association due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The SDSA endeavours to provide a safe, local, and active soccer program for the 2021 year. We continue to be guided by our association’s founding principle that everyone has the right to play the beautiful game, regardless of their ability.
The soccer season is going to be different. We will have smaller teams, and leagues that normally operate with eight teams will instead be split to have two(2) four-team leagues. This bubbling of players is in accordance with Ontario Public Health guidance, and is in compliance with the Ontario Government’s COVID-19 Response Framework. Registration is first-come, first-served. There will be a cap on the number of players registered for a level.
South Dundas Soccer has submitted its “Return to Play” document to the Eastern Ontario Health Unit for review. That process is ongoing. Once the final document is ready, it will be posted here.
The planned season will begin May 29th and will run 10 weeks, ending in a playoff-format tournament.
All registration, game, season start, and playoff dates are subject to change based on the provincial framework, local public health guidance, and the administration of the SDSA.
This year we have moved to an online-based registration form. We have also launched a registration form for volunteers. Both forms are listed below the Rowan’s Law Concussion Safety section. Please review the Rowan’s Law documents before proceeding with registration.
Rowan’s Law Concussion Safety
There are three different guides available for review:
- Rowan’s Law Guide – Ages 10 and under
- Rowan’s Law Guide – Ages 11 to 14
- Rowan’s Law Guide – Ages 15 and up; Parents; Coaches; Referees; and Field officials
The SDSA will have in its new registration form a section for the Rowan’s Law confirmation. Volunteers will have a separate form that will need to be signed for the Rowan’s Law confirmation.
